Within its remit, the Economic Committee deals with economic policy, in particular: restructuring of the economy, industrial efficiency, international and domestic trade, technology, direct investments and foreign capital participation, employee, enterprise and employer self-government; creation of appropriate legal bases for the functioning and development of microenterprises, small and medium enterprises, adjusting regulations to the needs and operation capacity of such enterprises; matters concerning the development of the craft sector, co-operatives and economic activity in the area of small-scale production and services, as well as matters relating to protection against monopolies, particularly natural monopolies, ensuring freedom of competition on the market, examining legitimacy of licensing professions and enterprises, preventing economic monopolisation, and consumer rights' protection.
