Within its remit, the Culture and Media Committee deals mainly with matters concerning the State cultural policy and the media market. In its activity, the Committee deals inter alia with issues relating to the current situation and development prospects of artistic education, museum administration and management, artistic institutions, artistic creation (also of amateur artists), press, creating legal grounds for the protection of national heritage and the Polish language, protection of copyright and related rights, promoting readership and other fields of culture, arts education, social cultural movement and promotion of Polish culture abroad. The Committee also evaluates the activity of the public media, particularly the implementation of tasks and obligations arising from the Act on Broadcasting by Public Television and Radio.
