Within its remit, the Social Policy and Family Committee deals with development of the State's social policy, social problems, social insurance, benefits and assistance, problems of the disabled and veterans, issues related to labour law, equal treatment in employment, payroll systems and cost of living, combating unemployment, labour market, labour costs, employment and protection of employee rights of Polish citizens in the EU Member States, employment of graduates and stimulation of labour market participation of persons in pre-retirement age; issues directly linked to the functioning of the family and fulfilment of its roles and tasks, proposals of legal regulations concerning such matters; issues related to protection of women's rights and ensuring equal opportunities for women in professional and social life; issues related to ensuring compliance with the constitutional principle of equal rights for men and women.
