Within its remit, the Agriculture and Rural Development Committee deals with the matters associated with agriculture, horticulture, pomiculture, buying-in of agricultural produce, animal breeding, agricultural cooperatives, agricultural land and forest management and protection, supply of means of production for rural areas and agriculture, including land improvement and water supply in rural areas, food industry, inland and sea fishing, social and professional organisations of farmers, and social and living standards of rural population; the Committee also deals with the issues of determining the directions of de-monopolization of the bodies and structures involved in the above mentioned activities, as well as the issues related to the development and modernisation of rural infrastructure, agricultural education and advisory services.
