Within its remit, the Health Committee deals with the issues related to the State health policy making, concerning in particular the health care system and the functioning of the public health care centres, access to health care benefits financed with public funds, reimbursement of drugs, foodstuffs intended for particular nutritional uses and medical devices, marketing or use of pharmaceuticals, biocidal products, chemical substances and their mixtures, as well as the issues related to patients' rights, medical professions, emergency medical services, health resort treatment, mental health protection, control of oncological and infectious diseases, drug addiction, health consequences of smoking, prevention of alcoholism, and the issues related to health security and biomedicine.
