Posłowie przyjęli we wtorek, 15 czerwca, uchwałę wzywającą do wstrzymania budowy gazociągu Nord Stream 2. „Sejm Rzeczypospolitej, w poczuciu solidarności z naszymi środkowoeuropejskimi sąsiadami, zagrożonymi rosyjskim ekspansjonizmem, w tym w szczególności z Ukrainą, wzywa Unię Europejską i jej państwa członkowskie, w tym przede wszystkim Republikę Federalną Niemiec, jako naszego sojusznika w NATO i partnera w Unii Europejskiej, do wycofania jakiegokolwiek poparcia dla realizacji projektu gazociągu Nord Stream 2 oraz do podjęcia kroków zmierzających do natychmiastowego i skutecznego przerwania jego budowy” – oświadczyła Izba.
„Apelujemy o to w imię szacunku dla wartości, na których oparta jest Unia Europejska, w imię solidarności z Ukrainą i dbałości o stabilność i bezpieczeństwo w Europie, jak też dla zwiększania odporności Unii na presję ze strony Rosji” – napisali posłowie. Sejm wezwał także Stany Zjednoczone do utrzymania oraz rozszerzenia sankcji wymierzonych w podmioty uczestniczące w budowie gazociągu.
Posłowie w przyjętym w głosowaniu dokumencie podkreślili, że realizowana na dnie Morza Bałtyckiego inwestycja jest narzędziem finansowania imperialnej ekspansji Rosji. Wymienili także rosyjskie akty zbrojnej agresji: na Gruzję w 2008 r. i na Ukrainę od 2014 r., a także nielegalną secesję Naddniestrza oderwanego od Mołdawii.
„Federacja Rosyjska wywierała wiosną bieżącego roku zmasowaną presję wojskową na Ukrainę, grożąc wybuchem poważnego konfliktu zbrojnego u granic Polski i Unii Europejskiej. Nord Stream 2, umożliwiając Rosji rezygnację z tranzytu gazu przez terytorium Ukrainy do głównych jego odbiorców w tym do Republiki Federalnej Niemiec, otworzy Rosji drogę do zbrojnej napaści na Ukrainę na wielką skalę, bez ryzyka ponoszenia kosztów przerwania wskutek działań wojennych rzeczonego tranzytu” – stwierdził Sejm w przyjętej uchwale.
Posłowie wspomnieli także o dokonanych przez Rosję na terytorium Unii Europejskiej zabójstwach przeciwników politycznych i aktach terroryzmu, o zagrożeniu życia więzionego rosyjskiego opozycjonisty Aleksieja Nawalnego oraz rosyjskim wsparciu dla reżimu Aleksandra Łukaszenki na Białorusi.
„Wyrażamy przekonanie, że akceptacja dla kontynuacji projektu Nord Stream 2 w wyżej opisanych okolicznościach jest przyzwoleniem na prowadzenie przez Federację Rosyjską polityki opartej na gwałceniu międzynarodowych standardów, praw człowieka, naruszaniu integralności państw ościennych i wywieraniu presji na państwa Unii Europejskiej i NATO” – oświadczyli posłowie.

“In the name of respect for the values on which the EU is based, in the name of solidarity with Ukraine and concern for security in Europe.” Resolution of the Sejm on the Nord Stream 2 Pipeline
On Tuesday 15 June, MPs adopted a resolution calling for a halt to the construction of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline. “The Sejm of the Republic of Poland, out of a sense of solidarity with our Central European neighbours threatened by Russian expansionism, including, in particular, with Ukraine, calls upon the European Union and its Member States, including, in particular, the Federal Republic of Germany as our NATO ally and European Union partner, to withdraw any support for implementing the Nord Stream 2 pipeline project and to take steps to immediately and effectively stop its construction,” the Chamber declared.
“We appeal for this in the name of respect for the values on which the European Union is based, in the name of solidarity with Ukraine and concern for stability and security in Europe, as well as to increase the Union’s resilience to pressure from Russia,” MPs wrote. The Sejm also called on the United States to maintain and expand sanctions against entities involved in the construction of the pipeline.
In the document adopted by the vote, MPs stressed that the investment carried out at the bottom of the Baltic Sea is a means of financing Russia’s imperial expansion. They also pointed to Russian acts of armed aggression: against Georgia in 2008 and against Ukraine since 2014, as well as the illegal secession of Transnistria from Moldova.
“This spring, the Russian Federation was exerting massive military pressure on Ukraine, by threatening it with an outbreak of a serious armed conflict at the borders of Poland and the European Union. Nord Stream 2, by allowing Russia to quit gas transit across the territory of Ukraine to its major customers, including the Federal Republic of Germany, will open the way for Russia to launch a large-scale armed aggression against Ukraine, without the risk of incurring the costs of interrupting this transit due to military operations,” the Sejm stated in the adopted resolution.
MPs also mentioned the murders of political opponents and acts of terrorism carried out by Russia on the territory of the European Union, the threat to the life of imprisoned Russian opposition activist Alexei Navalny and Russian support for the regime of Alexander Lukashenko in Belarus.
“We believe that the acceptance for the continuation of the Nord Stream 2 project under the above mentioned circumstances is a consent for the pursuit by the Russian Federation of a policy based on violating international standards and human rights, infringing the integrity of neighbouring states and exerting pressure on the European Union and NATO states,” MPs said.
